Celebrate Free GMAT Month!

During the month of September, anyone with a qualifying score for Mensa membership on the GMAT (95 percent or higher) can submit it for review at no cost.  Candidates MUST send in their applications by Wednesday, September 30, 2009, but they can submit their test scores through December 31, 2009 to compensate for the time it takes to receive requested scores. On the application, the applicant needs to include "Free GMAT Month" in the promotional box. If you have any questions, please e-mail Lauren Fernandez at LaurenF@americanmensa.org .

Dr. Faustus Outing with Janet Matherly Rowland

How about spending a really scary Halloween Eve with other Ms watching a man who sells his soul to the Devil? The Savage Rose Theater is presenting Christopher Marlowe's Dr. Faustus. While Marlowe's story was not the first on this theme, nor the last, Dr. Faustus is one of the more interesting takes. The play will be performed in the MeX Theater at the KY Center. The MeX is an intimate theater that seats 139. Tickets will be available in the next few weeks and cost around $10, which is an unbelievable price for theater tickets today!

The play run is October 15 - 31. Perhaps we can meet somewhere for dinner before, or a late dinner/nightcap afterwards. If October 30 doesn't work for you, but you still want to go, please suggest an alternate date. After I get a fix on how many people are interested in attending...and the best dates, I'll get back to you with more details.

Please contact me at Jamaro99@aol.com to let me know if you're interested in attending.

Editors Note:  I am the costume designer for this production, and when  Janet saw me mention it on Facebook she thought it would make a great Mensa outing.   I sent Janet the theatre’s web address when she requested it from me; otherwise, I had nothing to do with organizing this event.   -Shana

Regional Gathering

If you are interested in helping to make this RG a great experience but think you won’t have time, there are many ways that you can help that don’t take a huge time commitment…especially during this early phase.  One of the most helpful things you can do right now is to take a few moments to complete the survey at www.kentuckiana.us.mensa.org/survey and include your thoughts on the RG in the comments section!  You could also post your ideas on the Yahoo Group, or send them directly to me at theaterfiend@yahoo.com. Any way you give us feedback, it will be incredibly helpful to us as we make plans.

Another way to help the committee is to volunteer to be a presenter or coordinator at the RG itself.  Do you have a favorite topic about which you could give a talk?  Do you have a skill or hobby that you would love to teach?  Would you like to run a game tournament?  Do you have a favorite movie that you think would be great for a screening?  We would love to hear how you would be willing to participate!

If you would like to volunteer for the committee, share your ideas with us, or if you want to be a speaker or coordinator at the RG please contact Shana at 812-736-0906 or theaterfiend@yahoo.com.

Volunteers needed

We are looking for volunteers to serve as proctors for our admission test.  If you would like more information, please contact Sue Piotrowski at (502) 241-0699 or smfpphd@gmail.com.
