Independent Film SIG
The Independent Film SIG (IFSIG) is designed to give Mensans the opportunity to see films they might not otherwise see. As intelligent people many of us yearn for intelligent entertainment, but so often our friends and family take the “safe” route and see the films with the most elaborate marketing campaigns. While a good popcorn flick and a little escapism has its place, too often we forgo the opportunity to see film as art or at least film that conveys the director’s vision, not a studio’s financial investment. More rewarding films are accessible here in our community, so take the chance and see something a little different!
The third Wednesday of every month is Kentuckiana Mensa Independent Film night. We usually try to see the showing around 7:00 or 7:30 p.m. so as to allow everyone to make it after work but not have to stay up too late.
If you are interested, please contact me with your name, email address and phone number and I will make sure you get all the details. I’ll also post the info to the Yahoo message board. Obviously a format like this makes it difficult to plan too far ahead, but watch for an announcement the Friday before the Wednesday about what film is chosen. If you have a suggestion for what film to see, I’d love to hear it.
